Algonquin College x pcl x Fishtnk

The project proposed was to produce a CNCed plywood wall installation for Algonquin College’s Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Learning Centre and Institute for Indigenous Entrepreneurship. With this, I was responsible for formulating and organizing the production of the installation, overlooking and producing the panels, and managing the installation of the panels. This project consisted of roughly 52, 4’x4’ Baltic birch plywood panels, each made to come together to form a topographical map of indigenous territory.

Process

From the files received from the architect, a general grid and layout was established to organize the production of each wall. Due the size of the project and the CNC bed, the installation was broken down into 4’x4’ panels. Through Adobe Illustrator, a master file was created to keep track of which panels were completed and which fit together. The CNC files were prepared in Rhinoceros.
